Saterday night I was crusing down one of the largest drags in Lake Charles and the inevadable happend. I come to a stop light and this ole boy pulls up in a Mustang GT, well that wasnt the bad part. The situation stood to me where i had a choice to make. Either iI could drive off slowly and mind my buissness and that way the cop that was 2 cars behind me wouldn't consider pulling me over and giving me a citation for wounderfull driving. Or put this fool in his place. Well naturly i said wtf and nailed it when that light turned green. And he did also, While he is spinning his tires off the rim, the 361c.i. Z-51 Corvette roasted and toasted his a$$. Well naturly when i stopped in a parking lot a few blocks away the officer also stopped, and well he wasnt to happy to say the leaste. He gave me some not so words of congradulations on kickin that stangs tail. Insted I got a warning for my "superior driving". But he didnt give me a ticket. So I was thankfull of that. Now here is the good part. Later on I go to the parking lot where on the hot rods and vetts hang out on sat nights, and this idiot pulls up. Well i wasnt gonna say anything, i was gonna let him go on about his thing with his girlfriend. But his so goodlooking blond counterpart rouined it for him, she said out loud where everyone could hear and i qote "hey jared isnt that the corvette that totaly kicked your ass on Ryan St. earlyer". Hearing that and seeing the look on that guys face was priceless. Just to think he jsut wasted 20,000+$ on a car and it is about as good as a paperweight with wheels was classic. So just about everyone busted out laughing and well u can guess it, THEY LEFT

I am willing to bet he is at a dealership first thing monday morning looking for a vette!!!!

Well hopefully a few more mustangs will die off as this one did and that means more room on the praries to open up more corvette sirvice and parts facilities!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL

well, Stang lovers do like their Stangs so I'll bet he will at least be at the parts store buying some go-fast parts for his car............along with shopping for a new girlfriend!
;LOL

well even if he dose love his stang and he can go buy all the accesories he wants but there is one thing that car will never ever have and that is the prestige of being a corvette!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh well, that's a whole other issue altogether. We know Mustangs have no prestige
:L

Chances are his Stang could easily take my fully stock '65 but even that wouldn't really be a "win" for him. What could he brag about, that he beat a 40yo car? And even as the loser in a drag race with him my car would still get more attention and prestige than his.
I love reminding mustang owners that their heritage included such "dark times" as the lowly Mustang II.
;LOL

Have you ever noticed that the little guys with thier mustangs always act like they have something to prove, but most can never back up. I have friends that have a thing for Mustangs (I only hold it against them at the strip), but it is insane the amount of money they put into those cars and still can't out run my stock 1995 A4 with 2.59:1 rear end.

Let me get this stright, you had a drag race with a rustang and tires were spinning and smoking, there was a cop 2 cars back and all you got was a warning?

It would NEVER go that way for me :( :L

Actually, it's much worse than that! As the Mustang was originally nothing more than a re-skinned Ford Falcon built on the Falcon chassis.

I didn't know that.
I better not tell my wife. LOL
although i've converted her to love Vettes ever since we got our '65 (she now wants a C4 for herself) her absolute first love and desire is to have an early '65 or '66 Mustang.

Hi BarryK -

And...the current "fox body" chassis is based on the Fairmont...no kidding.

The LEO must have been in a very good mood to let two serious wreckless driving/ drag racing violations go - particularly when there was other traffic in the immediate vicinity.

In the same situation, I would have rolled down the window, revved my engine, egged him on, then when the light changed, I would have revved in neutral...sending the mustang fellow on his way to ticket-land.

best regards -

That's precisely what was going through my mind as I was reading that.
Goes to show ya, no matter what generation we come from, or drive, we all think the same......:L :L ;LOL
