Ahhhh..Heat In My Garage...Finally..My Bippee Won't Freeze..!!

Got my "Modine" 30,000 BTU Natural Gas Heater Installed last week end
in my Garage. Below it..shown in the pic is a commercial 4 speed high volume fan. I'm ready for those week ends in the garage wrenching on my vette.

No more freezing my bippee off on Saturday and Sunday.Now I'll be able to work in my shorts and "T" shirt while drinking my Pina-Colada's". :lol:

What do you guys use for heat in your garage...???

I just open the garage door for heat down here in Texas.

you're going to need it up there in NJ. Congrats. I'm in Georgia, so while it doesn't get as frigid as NJ, cold is cold... I use a propane space heater.

p.s. dont drink too many of those Pina-Colada's while working on your vette... the last time I did that- when I turned on my windshield wipers the horn would blow...

I have the exact same unit but it isn't piped yet. It's hung and wired, I just haven't gotten around to the fuel supply (going with propane) and exhaust work. I am weeks behind my project list due to the back injury and at the rate I'm going, it won't be until next year before it's insulated and heated. I did however manage to put an in the wall 12,000BTU remote control AC unit, man is that ever nice.

Yeah...did a similar thing many moon ago....To much beer while wrenching on the vette. Result.........Pushed in Cigerette lighter goning down the road at 60...blew out the ignition...coasted to stop.."AAA" brought me home..:L

I have seen units that mount in the outside wall (kind of like A/C and heat units found in hotel rooms) - anyone know anything about these, like brand names and costs???

Nice. I use an old Kerosene heater, 15,000BTU's. Not real good when it gets down to 10deg though.

When I built on my shop I got a great deal on a 93% efficient furnace from my local heating/AC guy. He bought out the stock of a store that was going out of business. I had 5 overhead ducts run and it's just like inside the house all winter. It was around $1300 installed. Check around...you never know what you'll find. You can't use too much insulation either. I have 2 feet blown in overhead.

This thing will also take central air when I can talk my wife into it. I don't open this shop up to the outside unless I'm getting the '81 out and with all of the insulation with just a dehumidifier it stays much cooler than outside all summer long.

..........:L :L :L ....Yep..I'v done that when it was around 12* outside changing a tire on the ThunderChicken. The Tire wrench sliped and I dinged my finger up real good. It was so cold out that the Blood just froze up around the wound. It hurt like heck.. When I got into the house to tend to it..the red stuff started flowing like a river as it warmed up.

Now I know why I hate the cold......

Sweet looking Gee-Rage....Mine is just a one car space so I couldn't fit a unit like yours in their. As long as I stay warm and compfy I'll be happy. So now that I have this sucker...Energy prices are going up ...
