I have a question about air conditiong/heating, both heating and cooling work fine, however, the only place either types of air comes out is the defrost vent. When I select any of the buttons for the air vents nothing happens, it continues to come out the defrost vent. When I select the button that has both floor and normal vents it does not switch to them. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Wow, This doesn't sound like much fun but maybe it will work! Thanks!

Nice color

Before you start digging under the dash, look for a broken vacuum check valve under the passenger side engine cover. That was my problem. $5.00.

If your cruise control works you are not leaking vacuum at the manifold or the little black plastic valve that is under the passenger engine cover. The 96 was bad about the vacuum controler going bad as my 96 is doing the same thing. I replaced all the lines and the valve under the cover and it still does not work. I was told GM does not make the controller anymore (hope they are wrong) the controller is under the dash by the gas peddle. I am pulling mine out soon and hope it is a cracked vacuum input line and not the controler .e-mail me how your turns out as I do not have the GM shop books but one of the members spend a great deal of time e-mailing me the pages that I will need to pull this controller out. Good luck and let me know how much of a hassle it was to fix.

Edit
I went to the link, thanks to Mark and 6 Shooter
