Air Dam Scraping

Just recently my air dam started scraping on speed bumps and irregular road surfaces that it didn’t scrape on before (I drive it to work frequently so I know the roads pretty well). The scraping prompted me to look at the front end – I discovered the whole front end is 1.5-2.0 inches lower than it was before. I compared it to a buddy’s 2003, and sure enough my front end is significantly lower. Does anybody have an idea what could have cause this ??

Check the front spring for cracks and delamination.

I did read where the lower plastic body panels will relax and droop. Is this what happened, or did the WHOLE FRONT END lower?

To dealer today - yep spring was broken in two places

GOOD CALL Tuna !

You're welcome.

There are lots of wheel cleaning products out there that attack the plastic spring on Corvettes. It's possible that is what happened. If it did, check the rear spring also.

Drive safe.

Any technical documentation on what type or brand of cleaners? Does Chevy have any warnings out on this??

I know Simple Green is pretty rough on the suspension.(so I've been warned)

Picked up car Friday at dealer - new front spring installed has a new coating material. However, because it was a long weekend holiday the regular Corvette guy was out and the replacement guy improperly lifted the car and damaged the left and right rocker panels - two small bolt head holes from the lift are in the panels - today I'll inspect the panels for cracking. I've been going to these guys for nearly 20 years - they quickly acknowledged the problem and they scheduled a repair in mid-December.
