I have seen the new lids for the air filter that are open. I decided to pull mine and cut out the slots to open it up and put in a K&N filter. I'm just wondering for those of you that have done it, do you leave the deflector on? I removed it but then saw it was a water deflector. Just wondering if I should put it back on.

You really should leave it in place. Never know when it'll rain on your parade. ;)

I have an 86 C4 and have purchased one of those water deflectors. Where does it go. Does it go in with the hood open or through the air opening under the front. Do I remove the breather or what ? Thanks for any info....Bob Y.

With the hood open, look down to the front of the radiator shroud where it meets the front bumper fascia. The deflector slips in from there. ;)

If it is the same as mine, just unscrew the 3 screws on top holdoing down the breather. Once you pull it off the car you can attach the deflector to it. Mine was connected to the air filter lid with rivets.

My filter lid is cut wide open on my 96... there is nothing rivited to the lid itself.
