air injection prob.

1990 L98 coupe green
i tried to see under car and it looks like there is oil coming from air inj. line that goes into cat i dont think this is normal what broke now there is a small clamp that is loose on pipe but there is no way to tighten it any help as usual is appr.
 
there is a line from air pump that goes into cat. converter it looks like there is oil coming from line and is getting on cat just wanted to know if anyone else had that prob 1990 l98 l
 
There shouldn't be any oil in that line ... air only. My guess would be maybe the valve cover leaking and dripping on the line ... it runs along the passenger side and close to the cover near the firewall. Another possibility is the rear of the intake manifold leaking (common problem) and dripping down. The fix for the intake is TRS (The Right Stuff). Many posts here describing the procedure. Basically use TRS instead of the cork gasket on the front and rear. The sides near the head get the gasket.

What little clamp? Is it a small worm type clamp? If it is this clamp it goes up around the air line and a small tab on the exhuast manifold colector area where the Y pipe bolts up to it. Not easy to reattach. need micro fingers.
