The '72 vette specs mention an option - K12 - called "Air Injection Reactor". What was/is that?

Hi Joseph,
That's the technical name for the A.I.R. pump or commonly known as Smog pump.

Very interesting as they would say on "Laugh In". I had never noticed the seperate listing for the Air Injection Reactor, RPO K19 per the Corvette Black Book for the '72 Vette. Shows 3,912 installed. But....the A.I.R. system was used in '72 on all Vettes except the CKW and CKX coded L48s. But that number, 3912, is....well.... Okay, there were 3,913 LS5 engines for '72. A difference of one more LS5 then A.I.R. Hummmm. Could that K19 RPO only be referenceing the LS5 engine? Makes one wonder. Very interesting.....
