I have some long tube headers coming sometime. I want to eliminate the AIR pump, and am wondering is there a kit to do this or do you just find plugs to put in the headers and a cap for the back of the intake??? Also who is the best at reprogramming the computer so I dont throw codes.

Yep, the aftermarket suppliers such as Mid America and Corvette Central offer the air pump eliminator pulley/bracket setup. I use one but you talk about needless expense. :L

And yes, you simply plug the air holes in the header tubes.

I thought those were only for the early C4's? Will have to look it up in one of the catalogs.:)

Kit FOR 1985-91 C-4 is available from Mid America. Go to page 4-28 of catalog 142k. $169.99. Using on my 88. Very easy to install. Will require a bit of vacuum hose re routing but very simple. Not sure what the difference would be in your 94 as to fit..

I would do this in a minute....but I have the smog nazi's to contend with out here in Southern CA.....just not worth it to me...

The A.I.R. pump on the LT1 engines is an electric pump that is located in the left front next to the radiator. It doesn't even run all the time, just on initial cold start-up, and if the O2 sensors detect a low O2 state in the exhaust.
At least that's how it worked on my 93.
I see no reason why anybody would eliminate it, not like it's a power robbing item.
The alternator probably works harder with the headlights on.

I know it dosent rob any power, just want to get rid of it to clean up the engine compartment.:)

Oh,
I didn't even think of that reason. Yeah, it does add a lot of additional plumbing up around the exhaust manifold area. I wonder if the OBII will cause engine codes to be tripped without the A.I.R. injecting fresh air into the exhaust stream?

I know I will have to get the puter reprogrammed, Im just wondering what all is involved in removing it. Do I just unbolt everything and plug the holes in the headers and put a plate on the back of the intake or what???;help

Yep as you can see there are plenty of kits to do this......but why...????
What about the stupid smog checks???
Better to drive that vette, than have to do more repair on it...
To each his own...
Good Luck

At the moment I have the plumbing still in place with the vent hole open. I have no AIR pump and have not thrown any codes related to the O2 sensors. I dont see why we couldnt just plug them a the top of the Exhuast Manifold, but havent tried it yet.

Do not get rid of the air pump........as the smog NAZI'S will get ya.....find another way......gosh am I whezzing.....keep the air clean....while as clean as you can....
The pump really robs very little housepower.....and thats a fact....many other ways to go....try them...look in all the forum tech articles.......I mean all the Forums...you know what I mean...

I just want to move you to the front...as I'd like to know the answer also...
Here it goes...
