A friend of mine has a 77 and until just a few weeks ago , had Air Shocks....He lost the air and the body came down on the wheel and cracked his passenger side Qt. Panel.....now he has bought the new rear spring and then off to the body shop.....

I did not think about that, it has been years since I ran air shocks on anything but never had one go down guess they are likr tires you need to check the air pressure. Did it just "blowout" or leak down

I would just get a new spring. The only thing I used air shocks on were my old muscle cars years ago when I was trying to clear my old L-60 tires

Alan,

Get the new spring and install it. It is by far one of the easiest things to do on a Vette( couple of hrs.), and will put your mind at ease as soon as it is on.
