on my vette when the alarm is set there is no indication of it. so i bought from jc whitney a led flashing lite that indicates some alarm is operating.i put it in with a switch and feel better now.

There should be a 'security' light on the lower left side of the dash that flashes when you open the door to get out. It should go on steady when you press the 'lock' side of the door locks button before closing the door. The light goes out after a few seconds. If you use the key fob to lock the doors, you'll never see the light go on steady. If you lock the doors, the alarm is set. If you want to check it, leave the windows down, get out and lock the doors. Leave the key fob out of range if you have the passive system turned on, then reach inside and unlock the doors. The factory alarm should go off.

At least that is the way my 92 works and the way my 96 worked.

rite on that.my contention is that if a lowlife comes by and there is no flashing red lite inside they might think my vette has no alarm or its turned off.it would have been nice if the 'SECURITY' lite stayed on after i set the factory alarm but it does not.

I agree:beer

Since it already has an alarm system and all you really want is a flashing red light, get one at Radio Shack and a battery and drill a hole in the dash somewhere.

By crackey...you may have something there! On our BMW there is a light on the bottom of the rearview mirror that flashes when the alarm is set. Very noticeable day or night......love to have something similar on Vette w/o looking cheesy or fake.

like i said i got my led flashing lite from jc whitney. a package of 3 was about $5. seeing as i have a carpet dash cpver i just set it up there in the groove at 1 o'clock to the steering wheel and a dab of silicone glue holds it.ran the 2 tiny wires under the dash cover to a small rocker switch i put in the side panel of the dash on the left side. it is hidden when the door is closed and was simple to get a hot and ground wire to it.now i turn the flashing lite on/off when i open the door.and yes i always set the 'real' alarm.

Hmmmm...thx for the ideas. Let me ponder this one.
