just bought my corvette and all the documents i've read stated that the 1977 corvettes ALL had alarm systems.....but mine doesn't. there's no alarm plungers or signs of prior alarm plungers on the doors or under the hood. previous owner (original) said car didn't have an alarm system. can someone shed light on this?

Howdy, do you have any plungers in the door posts? is there a key switch in the left front fender? also, has the vehicle ever been wrecked? the previous owner may have deleted everything.
maybe some more info WE your bretheren in fiberglass may be helpful

thanks for your reply.....thought i wasn't going to get any help on this. there's no plunger in the door posts and no key switch in the front fender. the vehicle doesn't appear to have been in a wreck (clear title, straight/smooth lines, tracks great). i've been under the car to work on the parking brakes and everything looks original. i've applied rust busters on the frame to rid of the surface rust.....frame looks good. anyway, was the alarm system a standard item for all 1977 vettes. if so, i'll have to open up some places (console, door panels, etc.) and look for signs of a previous alarm system that was deleted. thanks again........

During '77 the alarm key was moved from the fender to the drivers door lock, so no more seperate switch. Look under the car behind the left rear fender well, up above the muffler, to see if the alarm horn is there.

hmmm maybe they are using the standard plungers. for the later systems. i love learning new stuff.

hi tom, just found out there were 2 alarm designs for 1977.....one with the alarm horn in the rear left fender and the other inside the front left fender next to the firewall. my alarm horn IS in the front left fender. i'm assuming the plungers for the courtesy lights and alarm are one and the same. now i'll have to find out why the alarm is not working. thanks........love my corvette.
