dont let it scare you.Hang out in a ricer forum ,Im sure youll see alot worse.....and most of that stuff was done on purpose.:L

Yeah, probably with that neon crap under their cars or the lights in the wheels thing setting the car ablaze. I am pretty much set on getting one (probably a '72 or '73) and will make all precautions necessary to make sure nothing happens to it. I'm wondering now if all these fires were from original wiring and parts... I'm going to looking into a fully restored car.

Smart move on looking for a restored car.I think there are too many bubbas out there that think they are automotive geniuses. They are either too cheap to fix it right or they "think" they know it all.Alot of the problem is that everyone wants to mod everything.I know that sounds great because youll get more hp but it usually means hacking up the wire harness. Then the next guy says he needs more hp and he hacks into the harness, then the third owner says he wants a cd changer and he hacks into it.Before you know it you have a wire harness that looks like a bowl of spegghetti that has been eatin and thrown up.(Good mental pic huh):beer

Sounds like my friend who bought a theft recovered GN with a fuse box fire.. his brake system didn't work so he wired it up with a single wire hanging in mid air... surprisingly he turned it into a 10 second firehazard on wheels!! But, hasn't gone up in smoke yet.... now that's shocking!
