Allocation Questions

Can someone tell me why a dealer would waste their time and mine to place an order for a 06 vet if they don't have allocation?
I placed an order in early Nov 05 for a 06 convt and still have not gotten a straight answer from the salesman as to the status of the order, other than he needs his order guy to look into it and not sure yada yada yada.

One side note this is a GM Managed Dealership not an individually owned dealership, so would that give them more leverage to provide?
