SPEED.com has confirmed through multiple sources involved with the negotiations that the American Le Mans Series and the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series will announce an agreement that will see the two series race under a single banner, likely beginning in 2014.www.speedtv.com

It's about time. Now maybe a combined series will have more competitors and greater exposure. This could be very good news for big time sports car racing:thumb. Seems like a win-win for fans.

This merger kind of makes me nervous. Frankly, I don't see how this benefits the ALMS. Corvettes now race in Grand Am and ALMS. i hope they continue in the ALMS part of the merger. Also, I would hate to see them go to a spec car series like Nascar. I like the ALMS endurance format. I'm not crazy about races that only go 2-3 hours. I think Panoz just decided to cash in and couldn't resist the offer.
