I just inherited this fantastic car from a great old friend of 87 years who spent his last last years in Hawaii. It was shipped to Oregon and I am really loving the thing just after a few days. But my history is pretty much trucks and econo-boxes and I'm struggling to know how to care for this vehicle. First concern of mine is sea salt. Now I know the car has plenty of alloy and fiberglass but surely there is something I should do to clean off any residual deposits from those hard-to-reach areas and at risk metals. I gave it a good washing yesterday and drove it in the infamous Portland rain today. But if someone out there has some words to share regarding my next steps I sure would appreciate it.

Also, it arrived without any owners manual(s). I'm interested in picking up a copy of that too if a source can be shared. From what I can tell from this excellent site is that the car is a basic 1999 4-spd Automatic Coupe. In a stunning Nassau Blue Metalic. Thanks
(PS I never found a site like this for my Honda!)

I don't have a clue about sea salt. I'll let someone else handle that. The owners manual is available new from Helm Inc (www.helminc.com). They run about $30.00. You might be able to find a used one in our classifieds, maybe even with the leather cover. Must have a real nice friend. You may never drive that Honda again!

Welcome, you're going to love it. It would strike me that all that rain up there will help flush off the body. You're probably no worse off then the folks that deal with snow: sand and salt.

Probably will cost more but you can try a dealer for the books.

Well, with no short supply of water on the roads it looks like that is my best option not for cleaning the car of the salt. More reasons to drive it in this weather. But with the fat tires I'm a bit concerned about hydroplaning.

Yes, I may never drive the Honda again. It is up for sale. Thanks for the info. My friend was of my dads age and was from the beatnik era, kind of a highly educated bum in some respects, and never had a dime of his own until he had a windfall around 75. He remembered his old friends when he died. The car was the least significant thing he left for me.
