Anybody have any experience with Alpine's CDA-9807 Bose radio replacement? I'm concerned about the compatability with the GM Bose factory speakers even though their web site claims it's a compatable replacement. :confused

The cost of the Alpine replacement is cheaper than having my original radio fixed.

Any insight would be helpful......

Thanks,
Tune-less

yes i just replaced my bose gold system with a alpine #7894 head unit, i hate to bearer of bad news but based on what my professional installer has told me: it,s either all bose or no bose. you can,t mix them up. thats way my stereo replacement price went from$250.00 to over $1,100.00, because i had to replace all 4 speakers ( infinity kappa both f\r speaker) 5 channel amp,
2 8in woofers in a woofer box + $550.00 installion
the installation alone took over 2 days to complete! every thing had to be rewired, replacing a bose stereo system it,s a very labor intensive job. BE PREPARED TO PAY!

how much to fix your bose i had 88 fixed for 62.00 bought 2 on ebay 1 cost 38.00 other 70.00 also bought 7 spare spkrs why not kp car original

With replacing the radio, you would have to bypass the factory amplifier (it will not work with aftermarket radios) and run speaker wire from the dash to the speaker locations. The factory speakers will work with an aftermarket radio then. If you are replacing the factory radio, you should replace the speakers too, eventually, as you will get much better sound, and it will not change the appearance of your interior. The installation will be a little more expensive than a normal install, but mine wasn't too bad.

late reply

I know this is a late response to your problem, but i just installed an alpine in my 86' yesterday. The problem i had was that the alpine will not work properly with bose equipment. as "firedawg" said up above. you need a sound interface connector that will take your high frequencies come'n from the head unit and change them to a lower frequency that the bose amplifier can read. You can buy these at scosche.com but the best way to do it, is just run all new wire, and speakers. :)
