I need to replace the heads on my stock 85 L98, and since I am going through the trouble of replacing the heads I would like to upgrade to some aluminum units. But I am not able to find anyone who sells a head for an 85 L98 that is a direct bolt-in replacement that does not require any modifications to the TPI system.

Does anyone know where I could purchase some aluminum heads which could simply be bolted onto the engine and allow me to keep the rest of the components ?

One very knowledgable guy I know that ports heads says the Edelbrocks are a sweet bolt for bolt replacement. Witha little prot work he says they will really scream but out of the box is good too.

77-85 I have a brand new set of 86,87 ALU corvette heads and a set of low milers that came off a 87 vette if you are intrested. they are direct replacements for your 85 with two exceptions. they require corect head bolts for Alu heads, these head bolts have a thick flat washer to ceep them from gaulling the Alu. heads. they require the use of center bolt valve covers. they are the same style as your 85 valve covers and I also have a set of these that I would sell you or trade for your 85 valve covers if yours are in good shape. I could email pics if you like. these heads have 58 cc chambers and would rase copression a littel. when chevy went to these heads on the tpi vettes in 86 it uped there hp to 240.

Why not use the stock aluminum heads off a late vette??????
They can be ported and polished......3 angle valve job....etc...
Won't they work????
thanks
tony
