Rear end w/tires

Hello
I fabricated some of the rear suspension and installed the rear end w/ 4 link and tires. I got alittle sidetracked from my last post, but future pics will clear up what I have done
The rear end is a narrowed Dana w/ Strange axles and a spool. ( I will be putting a posi unit in for the street) The four link bars are in the car as well, and now the body is back up in the air from this pic
Just lots of trial fitting. Not much room in these cars for anything other than what GM intended
I will post some more pics in a few weeks..... Actually 67 Heaven will be posting them for me. Thanks again 67

Gald to see things are moving along......well ...with these cars..It's.... insert a bolt ..turn a nut...Then ...you done for the day...you can only do what you have parts for.

Then there's the snag...Oh S_it..!! Why don't this fit...!!! Ok..quick make a post on the forum. And Ya-da Ya-da Ya-da............Bla Bla Bla..

And..your gee-rage looks like mine ....Early "A" Bomb.....:L Makes it a little hard to work in....... Hang in there... :beer

I had to bring my equipment home that was in storage which did not help. Try grinding fiberglass inside with the doors closed in the winter........that's depressing.
It is also quite warm in there. Cramped cars, cramped garage and hot or freezing cold.
I have boxes and boxes of parts in my basement. I don't know if my better half is annoyed when I get more parts due to money or more space taken up
A large garage is on my list

Tom I know what you mean Cramped,hot or cold.as these are the same condtion I work in.Some day I dream of a big garage but untill then you have to just muddle thru.This week end is supposed to be a scorcher and as I am sweating working on my car ill be thinking of you sweating also in the misrable heat.If I get a chance I will upload the photos you sent me and post a link so the other guys can see your work.

Your fabracating skills are something to be admired.Keep up the good work.
 
Tires

The rear ties on the car are 19.5 X 33 inch Mickey Thompsons. They clear everything and I made the rear supension,tubs etc, so the clearance is not too much or too little, but just within a half inch or so at all places with complete suspension bottoming out(shocks, four link anti roll bar and fr rails etc) The tires are in phase with everything else for suspension movement
I doubt anyone will ever get under to look, but I like the fits like that are close.
The rear tire size is the same as a 14 x 32 inch slick. I won't be going to the track after getting the car out until I have some driving time to just have some fun with it and get used to the car. With the big slick and a sticky track, it will not spin, no matter how high an RPM I drop the clutch at( once sorted out). This won't be easy on driveline parts
The first gear is very fast to second and this tranny does not require the use of a clutch.(not a fully clutchless, which would be very hard to street drive) It will take a little time to get used to a hard launch, and to make sure the car does not veer into a guard rail(hook hard left or right)
Larry, let me know how you are enjoying the heat this weekend. I think we are both in the same weather pattern. It is going to be a very long day, as I am going to work as long as I can and into the night

Ride Ht

Hello Larry
The ride ht should be about 9.5 inches at the rear rocker(stock location) and about 4 inches at the front, just behind the wheel.
I could of bubble topped the rear fender for the tires, but I thought that would take away from the look I wanted. I had tried a 29 inch tall tire under the back but liked the look of a larger tire on the back./. I had to stretch the wheelbase 3.5 inches to get that big a tire under the car, but you would not be able to tell. I had drawn the idea out several times to see the look before I moved anything
The rear will sit almost an inch lower than the pic and I have not decided 100% on the rocker area. depending on the side exhaust.
I had thought of having the car lower, but being a street car also, I don't want to constantly bottom out the car
I lifted the body off the frame again and have the frame unclamped from the jig. I am going to set in the block and 5 speed and mock up the front suspension w/headers to see how it looks. I can move things a bit if I want to yet, but it should be fairly close to where it is now. The area between the back of the front fender and the front of the door is where it will hit, if it does
If anybody is coming to Beaverton in the next month or so, they could push me up and down the bumps in my laneway to see how it works....!
