Hi. I'm KenK from Edwardsville, IL (near St. Louis, MO)

I don't have a Corvette yet, but I joined this forum to ask questions before
I buy. I'm interested in a C2 convertible, or at least I think I am... I've never
so much as touched one.

About me: 45 years old; professional auto repair technician since 1982;
ASE Master Tech since 1985; Associate's degree in auto repair 1985;
3 years in an import car shop; 1 year in a Chevy/Olds dealer; 23 years in
a shop that works on all cars regardless of age & origin. (So I'm not a
complete ignoramus.:D)

I've repaired cars foreign & domestic from current models to pre-WW2 era,
but the oldest Corvettes I've serviced (and driven) are C3s.

Right now I have a 2003 Silverado and a 1971 Chevelle SS convertible.

I spent 10 years designing, building, & crewing dirt stock cars with one of
my friends.

Aside from cars, I like model cars, slot cars, model trains (HO), guns, old
movies, and of course, computers.

See you in the C1/C2 forum with questions.

Welcome

First, welcome to the CAC. Glad to see another local guy in the club. Now about your question, not that i am a authority, have had a c1 to present c6's. No dought the pre 67's have the $$$ and great looks, but for my money the c6's have it (all),the 2009 I got late last fall is the best vette I have the pleasure to drive. Brakes, turning, G forces, blazzing speed, HUD, ABS, Traction control, GPS, 6 speed or auto gets 28-31 mpg. The list goes on and on, what more could want in a vette. Good luck in your looking for a vette, old or new, just make it a corvette.............................Billy

  1. Hi, new guy here. I've had my '09 z06 since May, bought it after wanting one for over 35 years. Went back to school in my 40's and the car was my gift to myself for graduating. Glad to be a part of this community.

Hi there KenK,
Nice to see another guy from the BiState area here!
All I can say about your choice of Vettes that you want is Check it out good, and if you like it get it. I could have easily got a C4 or C5, But I always wanted a C3. I did not go for any other, and I am very happy with my 1980. Because lets face it if thats what you like thats all that matters!

So go get that C2 and we will see you on the road!

Mike.

Welcome kenK to Corvette Action Center we're glad you found us :thumb

The 71 Chevelle SS is a pretty cool car too, had a 70 SS this car got me in more trouble than I sometimes care to think about, gave me as much enjoyment and fun as well ;shrug

Don't ask me I'm partial to the C-5 :W
