Another,what's that??? Question.

I was looking around under the hood{nothing new} when I noticed something I have never seen before. Behind the battery area there is a rubber hose that goes from the bottom of the cowl/hood seal down behind the battery. What is it?? Is it supposed to be open at the bottom or sealed{ it looks like it has split down the middle} Thanks in advance!{ BTW it is on an '86 }

I´m not sure about yours, but in my 94 it is a drain hose and it is open at the end. There´s another one at the passenger side.
