Thinking of buying an "Antenna Booster Kit" (adv. in Mid America Designs catalog). My Bose system, even after rebuilding head unit and all four amps, just doesn't pick up stations well. I get great reception when driving the Blazer... but I'd rather drive my VETTE. :v

I'm thinking that I might need to have the radio and speakers redone. Can you tell me who does it and how much it will cost?

Psst... Hey Tom, you wanna buy a good receiver, amp and speakers? ;)

My apologies to Melena...

Sorry 'bout hijacking your post Ele, but then, I don't understand context. Are you asking if anyone has experience with the device, or are you asking for support in making the purchase? I understand the need for a signal booster, I just don't understand the question. :confused

I have no experience with such a device.

Tom, yes the stereo system is from my Corvette; I won't be using it anymore. It's only a year or so old. ;)

Hi Melena

I have used the boosters in the past on some other cars and they will help a little. They will not pull in stations that are real fuzzy though. They seem to help with stations that have a strong signal but kinda fade in and out a little... Hope that makes sense.
My 93 Vette stock radio has the same problem:cry

It's worth a try since you have already put money into the system.

GOOD LUCK !!!!!

Two Words..."Satellite Radio"

I just looked in The Mid America Catalog, you must be refering to the Ground Plane Bosster Kit.

I have one, but have not installed it yet, my aftermarket radio seems to get a good signal. the Ground Plane kit was added in a later year C4 to help with the grounding of the antenna.

I honestly don't know how well it works, sionce I have yet to install mine

The good ole Bose system...

Well, let's see.... I sent the amps and receiver to Dr Don's. I have about $500 invested in the refurb. of the system. They're telling me that my reception problem might be antenna related.
This is for you trr, if I had to over again, I'd rip out Bose - amps, speakers, the whole lot.

That's what I did. The problem begins when you start mixing components, and Bose certainly doesn't want you using anything but their stuff, so nothing is compatible. There is an adapter you can use if you change the head unit but not the speakers, but it doesn't really do the job. You've got to replace the speakers as well. :hb
