Antenna relay?

Last summer my power antenna on my '80 broke so i disconnected the wiring over the left wheel well and forgot about it because it was up at the time. This winter I bought a replacemnt form Eckler's and proceeded to install it. Seemed simple enough but it didn't respond when I turned on the radio. I disconnected it and tried it off a spare battery and it worked. Anyway, now I have no power to it or my door locks. I'm guessing it's the antenna relay? Is this a G.M. only part? I'm assuming the relay is the square shaped thing by the shifter? what does the turn singal flasher up further in the console do? by the way I can find no fuse to control the radio antenna.

There is a fuse for the antenna, just look at a wiring diagram or something, it'll list it out. Change that first I would say. I wouldn't go digging for the relay yet. A fuse is about $2.

That makes sense. I have a small fuse diagram in the owners manual but it doesn't list radio. I'll check door locks and see if there is something there. thanks!

the relay in your new antenna may be built in, try wiring it up, bypassing the old relay in the rear of the console. i had to do this with my new antenna. i left the old relay in just in case i find an original antenna in working condition.
