I am wanting to do some autocrossing with my daughter who is in college. The fact that she is in college limits my budget.
I will be running my '88 in B Street Prepared due to modifications. This class lets me use any size DOT wheel and tire.
My thoughts are to find some 17 inch wheels that are in good functional shape, such as the ones from a 90 model. At that point for a poorboy tire combination would I be better off with some worn street tires or castaway competition tires that have hardened due to heat cycling?
I'm not really anxious to make up a softening solution and do all that stuff, but I may be forced into it.
Any other ideas of how to have the best tires I can without going on a true racers tire budget will be appreciated.
We are not out to win a National Championship, only to have some fun together as Father/Daughter, but we would like to have the best tires we can have on a strict budget.
Thanks for any ideas you might have,
