Anyone here ever go an buy a used 350 from a stripshop
and just rebuild it. I found a 69 350 from I believe a camaro
guy wants 350 for it, and I figured I can rebuild it for a few hundred
after throuo cleaning. This would give me a higher compression 350hp 350
for under a 1k. I have an l81 in my 81 vette and I am trying to see whats
the best way to build power.

thanks

a 4 bolt block is worth about a hundred bucks. the heads are what makes the power. do you know the block and head casting numbers?? a lot of times your cheaper to buy a good set of heads instead of porting/etc.
461 462 461x and 462x are the fuellies, 882 castings are o.k. but not 64cc.

I've done just what you are thinking about twice. Watch ebay and swap meets and do your own work, and you can save a bundle. You also know every piece of your engine. If you already own your own tools, your investment will be only the cost of the rebuild parts. It's also satisfying to listen to an engine that you built yourself as you cruise. Tom

thanks tom
thats what I wanted to hear :)

350 is not a bad price for a COMPLETE 350, Just be careful,A badly worn engine can cost 700-1000 bucks MORE than a GOOD core to rebuild. So without taking it apart, Who knows what ya got? :)
