I'm looking at redoing (if that is a word) my engine. I'm looking for a reputable place to take my enging out-- put it together and of course put it back in.

Thanks guys and gals

Hate to sound stupid but never heard of them....Where are they located and what is there #....

Very interested..

A few things must be settled first before I can give you an honest answer.

  1. Where in the desert are you? (approximately)
  2. How far are you willing to travel to have the work done?
  3. What do you want to do to the engine, stock rebuild, modified, race?
  4. How much are you going to budget for the project? The old adage of "Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?" has never been truer than in today's market.

There will always be something that comes up that calls for a change of plans, or you change your mind and direction of the project, but if you have all of your ducks in a row before you start, it'll help in the long run. ;)

Ken,
I already have edelbrock rpm oval ported alunimum heads. I have a air gap intake demon 850 carb and Headers I plan to keep that.

I was looking at buying the speed-o-motive 454 to 506 Budget Master. $ 2249. It states about 567tq and alittle more horse with different intake and heads. That's pretty much what I'm looking for. Also waiting for a speed shop to give ideas.

Right now I have a BB 402. I made a terrible decision with that and the people sucked....Less than a year.....Wife is upset....spending too much money. Hell I'll get it right some day

I'm in Ft. Irwin Ca. Between Barstow and Vegas. Actually it sounds like I have a problem with my bottom end. So not sure how far I can travel.

Not sure of the budjet. I'm not sure what they can or will do with the engine I have. Or maybe they have a better suggestion for 500 tq and the same hp on the ground..

I will get the work done. Just want it done right this time and see what is the best way to get the power....and most cost efficient. I know those words don't match but you know what I mean.

Thanks so much

Hmmmmm Shops :o)

I know the very best shop in the WORLD.

Do it yourself. That way you will know allot more about your car the sounds and everything else. You will gain what I would call an ear for what your car sounds like good or bad and be able to pick the problem that much easier.

The big tools you can always rent such as a cherry picker and jack stands but the stands are still pretty cheap as well as the floor jack.

And besides of learning so much you will feel so much better about what you can do and did on the project. And be just that much more proud of your car than just giveing someone money to do it for you.

But that is just my thinking :)

Mentone isn't far from you, right? Send a note to Jim Gessner (vettefinderjim), he lives out in Mentone but knows Corvette people from around the world. He might be able to steer you in the right direction.

You might also try Hib Halverson too. He lives somewhere out in the high desert. ;)

Hmmmmmmmmmm

The Gear Heads are Dead long live the Gear Heads :)

Sorry just venting a bit :):bar

Thanks again Ken,
I left messages with both..Hopefully something good will turn up. Thanks again

Chris

There is a guy named Charlie Cool in Torrance (C&C Auto) who does custom work. He has been doing it for years and is known by every gearhead in Southbay.
