Has anyone ever swapped out their TPI injection for Carburator?
Will the digital dash in my 85' still work or does the speedometer need the engine controls to run through the computer to work?
Will the overdrive in my 4+3 transmission still work? I can make my own switch to run straight to the selenoid to engage it but what about the kickdown cable. For the price of the intake, carb, and new distributor it is the cheapest power build up I can do for my TPI, I already have a good cam installed. Thanks for any advice.

in my opinion iwould think you would be better off with runner and plenum uprades all aspects of the newer cars are intergrated there is nothing like fuel injection when it is running right you are seeing more and more kits to change from carb to fuel injection why go backwards plus it really is illegal to tamper with the emission systems in some states it would not even pass inspection it would fail the visual if the inspector is doing his job and probaly fail the emission test BAD IDEA in my book from a tech and state sticker inspector Steve:w :_rock

I live in Michigan, no emissions testing here. also an egr intake and cat and air pump would meet the same emissions. I'm just looking for more power and possibly better fuel economy since I can tune a carb good. I have had some older cars that made plenty of power and got better gas mileage than my vette with carbed engines.

i dont know if this is a good comparision, i had a 83' trans-am,with the cross-fire injection,i did headers, no cats, filters and then a compucam. i was feed up,out came the cross-fire,in went the edelbrock performer intake and edelbrock carb and a little more cam,man did i wish i never did that. i lost tons of torque and had to put 3:73 gears in the car just to get it back were it was.Da Hawaiian Punch saw this car before.
