Anyone tried to dyno tune their C4...?

Trying to get my C4 dyno tuned but I'm being told the engine management system isn't tunable. Was told I would need to convert the system to a more current operating system. $$$:cry If the engine is running rich or lean, can I just throw a chip in and problem solved??? Supposed to be dynoed on the 16th, but don't know what good it will do if I can't fix any issues that might arise.

Any C4 can be "dyno tuned" but all pre-1996 Corvettes use a different type of memory in the ECM such that most of today's "tuners" either lack the knowledge or the equipment or both to do it.

You need to find a "tuner" who can calibrate really old stuff and can "burn" chips.

Also, if you are wanting to do this because of a problem with the engine running too rich or too lean, if that problem is not because of recent modifications which changed the engine's air flow, and is a problem with an engine which has not been modified, I suggest that you fix the problem what is causing the rich or lean rather than trying to change the engine's fuel delivery to compensate for it.

Lastly, if the engine is stock and you are believing that a "dyno tune" will significantly increase performance, you could be disappointed. Yes, a "dyno tune" may offer an incremental performance increase but the results will likely not be "significant".

K... I mainly want to know how the engine is performing and to try to avoid any possible future problems that could arise. The spark plugs looked good considering they were the original 1990 plugs so I'm not to concerned. The engine has only 42 thousand on it. 39 thousand on the original plugs.

Exactly, they need a prom burner. I don't know and I doubt the stock prom can be reprogrammed or burnt. So they will need blank chips or proms.
