anything i can do to make my car run richer?

ok so 92 with straight pipes, ever since the straightpipes i sometimes experience popping under heavy acceleration on the 1-2 upshift and i occasionally get a slight stumble when i nail it and it kicks down...not all the time but some times it will "cough" for a second then take off. I deff love the way the car sounds i just want to make her run alittle richer. does anyone know if an off the shelf hypertech chip will do the trick or do i have to get one custom chip burned? my dad says run a colder spark plug>>any ideas??? im loosin my hair here lol

A colder spark plug won;t help much. It'll just cause knock at some point from poor combustion. Yes, a hypertech thermo-master or street runner chip will bump up the fuel a hair.
Might also check the EGR to make sure its not leaking into the intake. That causes hesitation and some burping under accelleration.

The way to tell when you;re too rich is when you let off the gas and engine brake, if the engine burps or pops during DEcelleration, thats excess fuel.

I got basically straight pipes on my 93, you get a lot more noise. Mine has one nice pop when you upshift at redline from 1-2, 2-3, etc...this is normal. Especially, if you hit redline. When decelerating I get very smooth decel until about 2-3K and then some pops and then smooth again till idle.

Do you really want a richer burn?

Gasoline does not burn. A burning match can be doused with gasoline. Anything that reduces or cuts off oxygen reduces power from combustion, or stops it completely.

You'll get carbon fouling in the pipes, EGR, intake plenum, intake manifold, cylinders, maybe even in your ears hnoes Emissions, if you're subject to them, will be a problem.

Maybe think it over a little more...

yea im putting the car on a scanner hopefully this weekend jus to check up on things i guess i can live with the occasional popping under heavy load. i dont really beat on my car that much anyway..

Popping out the exhaust in most cases is due to a rich condition. I don't really think you want to make the car run richer.

If he's trackin', or auto-xing, and the hammer stays on the floor then maybe so, but for a DD, I don't think that's what ya' really want there...
