2002 Torch Red Coupe
Hi

I don't even have my new C5 until this Wed and l'm already being questioned by my son's on the approx 0-60 time of my vette.

2002 auto, coupe under 12,000 miles
orig run flats
perf rear 3:15
Z-51 package whatever this does if anything.

Thanks

Alan

It doesn't have to be exact.

fwiw...my 1999 C5 nailed 4.6 second zero to sixty times...

12.90 @ 109.5mph..

All you need to hit those target numbers would be an air filter mod...

If I remember correctly I had a Halltech intake and pcm upgrade...

I'd suggest an air filter...and a pcm tuneup at any of the reputable tuners...in your area..

I'd suggest Corvettes of westchester........in Sleepy hollow NY right over the Tappan Z bridge......

I think you'd be impressed...He's got probably the best technology for tuning....HP tuners and EFI live which is better than other LS1edit programs which was at one time the best..

Chucks a good guy and if he's not to far that would be my suggestion..

Congratulations and the 2002 C5 was a stronger motor and faster than the 1999's...

Stock...my 99 ran 13.5 @ 105 mph at Englishtown....as you can see...the improvement on the C5 is easy and inexpensive...(I'd go preowned on air filter mod and the catback if you want a little more sound)

X pipe and coras indy's or touring a smart way to go..when the times right..

There are always tons on the net for sale relatively inexpensively...

Hope you and your son enjoy the new incoming C5!

Alan are you in Northern NJ?

fwiw I wouldn't go deep into modding the car...w/the exception of an air filter mod and maybe a catback and pcm tune...

If you do decide to go absolutely nuts and mod the car down the road ...I'd suggest holding off as long as possible and then contact either Carmen or Dennis over at Vette Doctors in Amityville Long Island for one of thier excellent supercharger installed packages...

Figure 8 grand installed .......but like I said...thats only if at some point your getting the itch for more power..

my suggestion in 20/20 hindsight is not to go with the vast array of small bolt ons...(other than pcm tune/air filter/catback) but rather hold back and if you must ....just throw the supercharger on when and if you can't stop the mod bug...

Stock is a 170 mph car so its a nice way to fly!

Quick and Fast!!!! Don't Know, never Timed it!! At 60 I'm Lookin for 2nd gear not lookin at the Clock!! :D
I've got a 6 sp. and it's ReaLLLLLY Long Legged!!!:lou

0-60 Times

Being that l live near Englihtown raceway and my club runs a Corvette day l will get a time before l do anything but l would like to keep it stock until the warranty is over.

Alan

Alan,

NO question if your down by englishtown...

I would use East coast supercharger..

Chris and Doug are top notch guys...

I've known them for years and if they weren't so far from me I'd be using them.

I was down there the other day dropping a buddy off while he picked up his 730rwhp Vette they built for him.

Check out chris's new C6 Z too

Definitely good guys to consider.. especially since your so close to them..

13.5 @ 105 stock for a 2002 c5 as a best guess..

You want more? Throw one of their superchargers on and have a party...

Best of luck with your new ride.

My 2001 A4 w/ 3.15 rear end does 5.0 sec and 13.3 @ 111 MPH in the qtr mile on my little GTech which may or may not be too accurate, no drag strip around here in the sticks but plenty of WIDE OPEN SPACES to test in.
The Corvette Museum data from Chevy says they should be able to do 4.75 with that same combo but I haven't found any good concrete around here yet to hookup those rears! Just lotsa smoke but it's still fun!
Enjoy! Doc
PS Get yourself a Valentine V1 too! and quick!

fwiw...Traditionally the G tech runs 4 mph fast compared to the quarter mile timing equipment...
.

I used to get kicks out of running the G tech against the timing equipment at Englishtown...(so I hope this information helps)

It was like clock work that I could see the Gtechs times and trap inside the car ...go to the station, pick up my ticket, subtract the 3.8 mph/4 mph and know exactly what my performance was.... but for the life of me I can't remember the variation of ET...(sorry about that)

Just shooting the breeze....(if I can I'll try dig up some older posts from years back and I'll post up the G TEch et time differentials from the track comparisions..) It was actually pretty interesting back then...

Cool device for sure.

If you can find that info it would certainly be interesting to me...
Thanks! Doc
