Are There any St.Louis Events That Commemorate the Closing of the Corvette plant and the last Corvette rolling off the St.Louis line???

Although I am orig from Southern California, I spent the summers in St.Louis with my Grandparents. I can remember the Day August 1, 1981. (easy for me, My birthday is August 2.) I remember the front page story of the St.Louis Post Dispatch. It had the story of the Last Corvette rolling off the line, with a few full size photos of the last St.Louis Vette.

The Plant is still here, Although it is a industrial park now, with many different businesses located there. I just thought it would be Nice to have a event here in St.Louis paying homage to the home of the Corvette from 1954-1981.
And with next year being the 30th year since the St.Louis plant closed it's doors, It just seems to me that the Corvette Faithful should have some kind of event.

Mike, I would be in favor of some kind of get together to honor that date in time. You have put it out there, lets see if there is any responce to it..........................Billy :)

...The Plant is still here...

Part of the Chevrolet and Fisher Body building is there, but the Corvette Building was razed years ago.

You can do the Google Map thing and "drive" past where the Corvette Building used to be.

A few years back I heard something about someone attempting to get a historical marker for the location where the building once stood, but I don't know what became of that effort.

Well you are right, but some of it is still there. LOL . The company I work for has a warehouse at that location, I used to go there just about every day. anymore I dont get there but once a year.

But yes we need to get at least a historical marker put at that location. After all, so many fine Corvettes were built there!

Next time you're there, why not take some pics? Folks might like to see where the building used to be.

:)

I can do that. Not a problem.:thumb
