Cleaning tips?

This is only my third day of being a proud owner of a C4. Please bear with me on some of my questions I'm bound to have over the next few weeks or so.

What does everyone recommend for interior cleaning? I've been an avid fan of Armor All products with my past cars with great results. The reason I'm asking is because I've seen a number of ads, etc. where people purposely make the comment that their interior was never Armor All'd, suggesting it isn't a good idea.

Also, does anyone use anything good on the leather seats for protection/cleaning? I've been tempted to pick up a pack of those leather wipes the various companies are making but thought I'd ask around first.

Thanks again for any help!

Kurt

Welcome and congrats on your purchase.

I use glassplus to clean dash and door panels, then spray pledge on a soft cloth and wipe down the dash, console, door panels... everything except the seats. I use Meguiars leather cleaner and conditioner on the seats about once a month - you simply rub it in and then wipe it off with a clean, dry cloth. I use the generic aerosal carpet cleaners and if it is really dirty, I spot clean with resolve. Remember, use cotton swabs to get to the dust in the cracks, air vents, etc.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the tips. I didn't even see the cleaning forum until now. I'll be sure to check it out!

Thanks!

Kurt

Just curious as a new owner looking to maintain a good interior, is there something wrong with products like Armor All that I'm not aware of? I've been using them for years on other cars with pretty good success but it seems like everywhere I turn, someone else is telling me how bad it is for the car.

Any product recommendations for the interior plastics and leather?

Thanks for the help!

Kurt

I've been using 303 Protectant on all of the interior except the seats. I really like 303 as it leaves a satin finish, as opposed to the slick, glossy look, and provides UV protection. On the leather seats, I've used a variety of leather cleaner/conditioner products, most recently Leatherique which I like.

Good luck!

I guess I am one of those that cringes when someone states, "I use Armor All on my dash, door panels, etc." :cry Armor All is known to be greasy, and attract both dust and heat...the latter being a direct threat to the integrity of the dash. Too many stories of cracked dashes with the use of Armor All. I have many supplies within my detailing arsenal, but Armor All is not one of them. :(

If you are searching for a quality interior protectant, my suggestion would be 303 Aerospace Protectant. It leaves a factory fresh appearance and provides UV40 protection. It's a very versatile product as it can be used on the dash, door panels, door pulls, front air spoiler, tires, weatherstripping, seats, console, etc.

I've been using it for the past 2 1/2 years on my car. Check out this site for a reputable supplier: www.properautocare.com It's a very good product. :D

I agree that 303 is an excellent product. It is something I started using late last year on my wife's "toy" Jeep. I guess the Jeep owners have been using it for years.

My personal favorite over the past 5 years is Vinylex by Lexol. It is awesome on the dash and door panels. It also has a sunscreen built in it. It has helped me do well at the car shows. Some guys use it on their tires too. It is in a blue bottle and can be found at PepBoys.

Good Luck!

I am not a big fan of armor all mainly because I think its 95% water. It never seems to last very long.:beer
