Help! Assembling horn button on a 1980 Corvette.

Hello. Last Sunday while I was driving along my horn button dropped off into my lap after hitting a bump in the road. After looking at it I could see that someone had kind of pieced it together. I purchased a new horn button kit which arrived today. In trying to assemble it I was confused as to what holds the 3 pieces together. There are 3 posts inside the button that hold the emblem and mounting clip. I am unsure as to how to flatten these posts to secure the pieces together. Has anyone got any ideas? Thanks.

Thanks, but not exactly what I need.

I have a new retaining ring, emblem and cap. The emblem and retaining ring mount on 3 "posts?" within the cap. These posts then have to be flattened in order to keep the emblem and retaining ring in place. My problem is how to flatten those posts.

I'd try a center punch. Assemble everything then softly drive a center punch into the center of each pin spreading it out until it secures the plate.

Melted with a flat ironed solder gun.

I used a center punch. Very lite tapping with a hammer or you'll split it in half.​
