Can someone give me the link to check the assembly daye of my car based on the serial number. I thought it was late 63 but Quanta just sent me my stencil set and dated the car as April 1, 63.
Thanks for the help

OK now I know it is April 1, 1963, Would this be considered a late or early 63?

Early or late that's still April Fools day. But you knew that, right? :L

Well one site gives me April 1, 63 and one gives me Sept 17, 62. Someone's calculator is broken!!!!!

You must be careful to only enter the last 5 digits of your serial number with the NCRS Wisconsin calculator. I have put in the whole thing befor and ended up with a really wierd date.

You were right. It is April 1. Now can someone tell me if this is an early or late? Serial number 11848 which is about at the middle of the production sequence.

Well you have 7 build months before your car and 5 after. I'd call it a mid production car. If you are looking for an early/late designation to determine if it should have certain types of parts like a wonder bar radio or fiberglass headlight housings then it's a late car. I'm not sure if it's late enough for a Muncie 4-speed vs. BW T10 though. The NCRS has done a lot of research to try to lock down the exact serial number, or close to it, when certain running production changes were done. You should get the latest 1963 Judging Manual from the NCRS Bookstore at www.ncrs.org to help you indeterming the finer points of your car.

I just received mine yesterday and started reading it. I wanted to varify the 'late' designation for certain parts. It does have the T10 but no recessed floor panels.
Thanks for the help Tom. I disassembled the car and wonder sometimes if I'm crazy or just an enthusiast!!! I'm sure I'm not alone in that question.
Thanks again

I know the feeling. Looking back 35 years it would have been a lot smarter to have spent around $2500. and got an excellent condition '59 instead of one needing everything. But you know what they say about lust at first sight. :L

Tom

I ordered my car in January 63 with a wonderbar radio, it was delivered in May, with engine date of May 8, and I think the body plate date code was May 14th, but I'm going from memory right now. The car came in with an AM/FM radio, with no extra charge. It also has a Muncie trans.

OlBlue is that a silver blue car? I'm deciding whether to go back to its original color and was wondering what you thought of it having owned it over the years. It's red now but silver blue originally.

So I have a question on build dates.

From my trim tag See attached

It says B28 meaning Oct 28th of 65 so is this the day they started production of my car? or is it the day it was completed
