I am new to the corvette scene in Atlanta, GA. I have my dad's 1976 stingray l48. I have a few miscellaneous items that need repair. I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations of a good service shop?

Welcome to the CAC. Where in Atlanta are you located?

One of the reason I sold my 77 was the difficulty finding someone who could work on it. I eventually found Jim Watson up in Blairsville. 706-781-6789. It's a haul but he is that good going back a long way with Corvettes. He has a metal bumper C3 that looks like it just came off the showroom floor. I would drop the car off with him at the end of driving season with a list and pick it up a couple weeks later. At least its a great drive.

There is a great transmission guy on Holcomb Bridge in Roswell. It is the son of the owner of the Aamco there. He put in my 4 speed automatic and did a great job.

The Buyavette guys up at 85 and 285 do service but I thought they were expensive and didn't have a good experience. The Last Detail had a good mechanic that rebuilt my trailing arms but he moved on. There's a shop over in Tucker that worked on my car once but didn't leave me with a good feeling either.

Welcome to CAC.

Great information! I will check these leads out. I live in Milton but am originally from Ellijay so the Blairsville one may work!

So here is a dilemma i experienced yesterday. I have had my '76 vette out on several short trips consisting of about an hour or hour and a half duration. Haven't had any issues. Yesterday my wife and i took a longer cruise involving some consistently higher speeds given we used more freeways. After about an hour and forty five minutes to two hours into it the car starts cutting out. All gauges are fine including water temp. I pulled over and checked under the hood - still no indication of trouble. After the car cooled down for about five minutes i tried again. It ran ok for about ten minutes then started cutting out again so i pulled over again to let it cool again (keep in mind the water temp gauge was fine the whole time). Long story short we limped home (thank God) stopping every ten minutes or so to let the car "rest". My wife's theory that i agree with is that there was some component somewhere unrelated to water temperature that overheated since this was the longest trip we have taken in the car. Anyone out there have any ideas??

It could be as simple as a fuel filter. Possibly an ignition problem when the distributor gets up to highway temps.
