Attaching to Fiberglass

The '85 I just purchased has a fiberglass spoiler on the front. Near as I can tell it attaches on the sides and under the car toward the rear of the spoiler plate. The front portion of the spoiler, right below the driving lights, is not attached and hangs down about 1/4-1/2 inch. What are my options for attaching that section to the bottom of my front bumper?

I looked from inside the engine compartment and there is no access to the bottom of the bumper. Nor does there appear to be from the underneath.

On my C5 I had a problem with the OEM plastic spoiler being ripped off my bumper going in and out of the driveway. I replaced the small black push type attachment pins with much more robust ones I got at a car parts store (Schucks, Pep Boys). You may use the same kind of attachment. They are black plastic and come with what looks like a carriage bolt head (no groove for a screwdriver), their shaft has rings of plastic barbs on them and are about 1" long. The shaft is about 1/8 " around They work great and are cheap!. You may have some holding your fender skirts on your other cars.

You would only need to drill some holes through your bumper and spoiler and push these pins into it. They allow for removal with a little effort, but don't come out easily if the hole isn't too big.I hope this helps- Ron

When I was able to do some serious investigation, I noticed that the original piece was secured with simple wing-type molly bolts and washers. So I thought I'd go that route - when I drilled a small pilot hole at the point where I wanted to secure the spoiler - I hit solid metal, which I assume was the bumper mounting piece. So I kept drilling - doing both sides. Then, instead of the molly bolt set up, I switched to self-tapping screws -- presto chango --- two solid mounting points!!! The spoiler is flush and solid.
