Coming up for auction in May at the Mecum Auction in Indianapolis is a very special 1962 Corvette Styling Car that is commonly believed to have been prepared for the 1962 Chicago Auto Show or a styling exercise to produce the 50th Anniversary Chevrolets with Gold paint and Tan interior.

That's a cool looking car. It could be that they just used this car at the auto show to test the public's reaction to the color combo. They obviously decided, for some reason, not to offer an Anniversary Gold '62 Corvette. Too bad. It would have been something really special. I had a 1962 Impala convertible in 1966 that was Anniversary Gold and it was a much brighter color. Mine had a light yellow interior and black top. At the time there was another one in town like mine with a white top, an Impala SS 2 door hardtop, an SS convertible, and an Impala 4 door hardtop all in the same gold with the same yellow interior color. They were fairly popular.
