I attended the GM Autoshow in Motion yesterday. I drove the C6 on a short road course set up at Phoenix International Raceway. I must have one! It is an amazing car. Very similiar to the C5, it is better in every way - IMO. I also drove the new GTO - Good performance, but it felt cramped, while the C6 feels snug and comfortable. The GTO is also quite boring to look at.

Did they let you really open up the C6 or just poke around the track? And if you wouldn't mind, could you be more elaborate in telling us what you liked more? I'm just curious. Help explain the feeling for those of us who haven't had a chance to even get in a C6 yet.

Thanks,
~Ripp

They had a "pro" driver in the passenger seat for each drive. They directed us pretty much on what to do. I never got out of 3rd, put I did have it floored several times. He was saying things like "ease out going into this turn", then at the apex "get into it!" It was fun, but too short. I didn't even look at the speedo! The clutch was very light, I expected more resistance, but it has very good manners and driveability for everyday driving. Very strong acceleration, tight - solid feel, and it handles like it's on rails. I am 6'3", and found the car to be very comfortable, although, my hair was pushing against the roof :L I wish I had more time in the car to really get a good feel. I think there were 8 cars in all, 4 auto, 4 mn6. They would only allow 1 ride per person. It was nice to drive without the sales pressure. There is slightly more headroom than the C5, the interior does seem to be of better quality, and you can really feel the performance difference.

Re: Autoshow

I did the same show last year here in Raleigh. It was way fun. I got to drive the Z06. They did have a person in the car with you that was telling you how to go around the cone course. Not bad! I loved the Z06. Like the GTO too, these were last year's models. I liked driving the Hummer H2 also. They set up an off road course in the parking lot, big hills and dirt mounds. I'd go again. Im still getting GM propaganda in the mail!
