worked on a couple `65`s
A friend of a friend has a pretty stock '80 (AC) coupe, and he's annoyed at the constantly whirring fan. I suggested a relay and micro switch. I would use a stock heater fan relay mounted right beside the original one for "originality" purposes. Stock type factory terminals, etc. Anybody have experience? Which wire to cut? ETC...:W

Go to the resistor block on the box in the engine compartment that holds the fan. It is right in front of the passenger on the firewall. On the 77, the brown wire controls the low fan speed operation. Instead of cutting the wire, unplug the connector, and using a flat screwdriver, you should be able to work the brown wire (and it's metal attachment spade) out of the connector.

I'll second this technique. This is what I did. Just remember, don't cut the wire.
