Auxiliary Fan Volume

I recently rejiggered the main and auxiliary fans on my '89 Ebay rat such that they both come on at a lower temperature. I am delighted with the result, and it was incredibly simple to do. Before I did this, I mentioned in another thread that the auxiliary fan was pretty loud whereas the main fan was pretty quiet. One person commented that his auxiliary fan was whisper quiet, and he wondered whether my auxiliary fan was defective. Well, it certainly doesn't sound defective to me, even though it is loud. Still, I thought I would ask people who may have this stock auxiliary fan on their cars whether they would characterize it as loud or quiet---I realize this is subjective, but one way to consider the question would be whether the auxiliary fan is louder or quieter than your main fan. The auxilary fan on the '89 is the "pusher" fan. Thanks, in advance, for replying.

I've got the low temp. switch on my 88 that turns on the aux. fan at about 185. So my aux. fan run before the regular fan. I would say they both sound the same and would say they are quiet.

Hope this helps.

Mine is pretty loud when a/c is on. It can whistle Dixie if it keeps the coolant at 195 stuck in Atlanta traffic.

My pusher fan or aux fan is much, much louder than the main fan. I have both of mine on a switch and you can definitely tell when you flip the switch. Loud aside, she cools off pretty quick!

The auxillary fan on my 90 is a puller just like the main. It is much louder than the main fan. It is just a little larger also. It is loud kind of like where is the plane going to land.

I don't think I have ever heard my Aux. fan come on. Either it has been really quiet, it doesn't work, or my car hasn't gotten hot enough yet.
