has anyone ever hard-wired an accessory like a radar detector or a g-tech to the auxiliary power wires under the console? im thinking about running my satellite radio with that so my radar detector can run off the cig lighter.

Easy to tap into, but you'll have to remember to shut it off to not drain the battery.:w

i just cut the wires for the satellite radio power supply. the aux power has 3 wires. orange, brown and black. orange is power, black neg and brown is ground? or black ground and brown neg? im getting power on the voltmeter from the three wires. but when i hook up the satellite radio no power. could it be it wont work because it was made for a cig lighter?

The tag on my 93 reads:

Incorrect wire splicing may damage your vehicle's electrical system.

-Use orange wire for battery.
-Use black wire for ground.
-Use pink wire for +12 volts.

To gain access to wiring, remove the three screws in the trim panel.

See Owner's Manual for more information.

DEALER: DO NOT REMOVE.

I put a VOM on the black and pink and found it to be switched. :D

I wired in a 12-volt VCR and a lipstick cam to record my track sessions, works great! The harness to the VCR and camera makes a neat bundle that is easily unplugged when I pull everything out.

I don't leave the rig in the car all the time, but occasionaly it stays in the car, connected, for a few weeks between track sessions, and I haven't had any trouble with the battery draining.

i finally got it to work. jvc makes my satellite receiver and they think the white striped wire means positive! and i thought gm makes some dumb mistakes.
