Hi all;

Well, I'm sick and tired of waiting to confirm if my 81 is "the one" Code 24 car. It is so horribly faded (being its the original paint) that I want to get it repainted so she's all pretty. Problem is I don't trust anyone when it comes to my cars. So if I'm gonna have someone else messing with them they better be good AND respectful. Does anyone know of a good, experienced Corvette (fiberglass) painter in the Southern AZ area? Tucson preferably but I'd be willing to drive to Phoenix.

Also, my 68 needs new front glass (front end) installed and I want only an experienced person to do it so it is seamed up and done right. Can anyone help out?
Thanks!

Cool - They have painted all kinds of cars/trucks and do a fine job from what I have seen :cool

Hope this helps - Chris

Do they have experience with vettes and fiberglass though? I would rather pay more money for someone intimately familiar with vettes and ensure an awesome job. The 68 needs a pretty large job - front end replacement and I want to make sure its sewn up according to factory specs as much as possible. Will they be able to do that do ya know?

I once saw them totally take apart a C4, top to bottom and rework the glass and know they have worked on others

A car they did was in the original Real Street Eliminator - an old Chevy Camaro (Bob from Tucson)

They also did some amazing things w/ the Saleen Mustang body panels (glass / flex endura) and eliminated many of the annoyances found even on cars Saleen did.

Go talk w/ them and see if they would be right for you and your car - worst thing that could happen is you walk away knowing two more decent fella's in Tucson :cool

No... haven't had a chance to get out there yet. I just got the vette back together yesterday! Just need to rebleed the brakes again for some reason... and she will be on the road. There is another old-style Corvette guy that I finally found the name for two days ago so I need to track down his number. He is retired and spent his whole life restoring corvettes and knows them intimately. I'm gonna see if he still does it or not... plus he is on my side of town. The folks you pointed me to is about 35 miles from where I live. So, if this guy isn't doing it then you bet... I'll be rushing over to see them in a jiffy! :)

Hey Dawn,

Lanny here......when you talk to the guys at that shop here in Tucson, let me know...my 81 is getting closer to being back on the road again and I have a few small areas that need attention.

So are you finished with school now?

Later,

Hey there Lanny! No... close though - one more year; perhaps a year and a half. This last year has been tumultuous to say the least and I haven't been staying on task with it as I should have. But that is all going to change now! My life is gaining some momentum - tough times are getting behind me. :) I certainly will keep you apprised about the painting situation. BTW I ordered a dealer invoice for my 81... hopefully I learn once and for all for SURE if it is the infamous code 24 car!!! I'm also searching around to add a 90-92 convt to my collection; I'm feeling the loss of the 84. :(

Dawn,

Just in case you did not notice the addition; picked-up a 96 Collectors Edition coupe, 6sp. So now I have a Corvette to drive while I put the 81 back together. Trouble is...I keep wanting to do things to the 96 instead of working on the 81!!

I would like to see this 81 of yours before you take it to any paint shop, that way I can see how they do. May be one of these weekends...should it ever cool down a bit.....but then I guess it's a bit cooler where you are than me. Still got the bike? Been too hot for me to get out on mine....even mornings are too warm after only a few minutes. Can't seem to go fast enough to get any kind of wind chill going!!!!!

Home email is now: deanvette@comcast.net

Later,
