B2K Drives

Took the B2K out for a drive last night - after running it only 160 miles last year, I got my new lic. plate decals in the mail yesterday - like a sign from above saying, "DRIVE!" away we went...

Headed out to the cruise in and met up with a bunch of Corvette folks - more Vettes than normal! In fact, more than I have ever seen there - everything from the Callaway, to a couple ZR1's, a GS, CE, a few C3's & C4's, Z06's were a dime a doz., and a couple C6's as well...

Amongst the Vipers, Mustangs, Old muscle cars and a few high tech cars like a turbo Esprit (that is considered high tech, right )the Vettes looked awesome!

On the way home, we took the back way and with my wife and kids behind me in the truck, I put the hammer down! :eek 54hg's on a summer night, the car hit that "sweet spot" - the one where you just do not want to lift (B2K Owners know exactly what I am talking about here )

Once home, a long cool down on the car and tucked away, probably until August...

Anyone else had their Callaway out recently???

I agree totally! There were a lot of Z06's and a few C6's, and several Vipers. But they just don't do it for me. When my wife and I were walking around, we'd just cruise right by those cars. I didn't see the Esprit, though, or I'd have checked that out. I always thought they were neat, though I'd never want to own one (a tune-up would cost more than the car!). The cars I found myself stopping to look at closely were some of the cleaner muscle cars, the 442, GTO's, the couple older 'vettes, and then all the C4's. They're just a stunning car. And the fact that they are 10, 15, 20 years old yet still so comparable to modern cars is really amazing.

Chris, it was awesome to see your B2K there, especially knowing you enjoyed driving it the whole way there and back! I'd loved to have been on the road with you when you opened that thing up, hopefully I'd be able to keep up enough to hear those turbos sing!

It was also really nice talking to Ron. He seems like a nice guy on the forum, and he was a really nice guy in person. Thanks for letting me know about the event, Chris, my wife and I enjoyed it a lot! And thanks for the demo on the Callaway electric car! That thing is too cool! I'll definitely have to get one for my neice when she's a couple years older (and I'd love to paint it bright or metallic red first and wax it all up!)

I try to at least go once a month but I've been too busy this year so this was my first and it was a quick in and out to pass out flyers for the 16th Annual Corvette Cruise-In on Aug. 6th in the Best Buy parking lot (<---shameless plug:L). I didn't even pull my car in. I'm going next week though. We have company coming in from Missouri who really like cars so we're taking them.

When I had the 71 I was there nearly every week.

BTW, been meaning to say that I like your new avatar.

Down in S. Florida I would get to use a Malibu/Callaway boat more often than the B2K. Enough with these rains already, going on 6 weeks worth, geez!...

160 Miles? I have already hit over 1400 this year. My 84 just turned over 90k and running as strong as ever.

I've stretched the legs on the SNAT over the last couple of days. The Megas are now "seasoned" in and sound great. LOVE THOSE MEGAS!

Hey Everyone, I had the Dragon out last weekend, and the weekend before and drove it to work and................Now that I'm living on the same road (Route 211 W) as the famous Skyline Cruise, the way to Luray Caverns, I'm just loving life. Rt# 211 is an enthusiasts paradise, the road is littered with motorcycles and cars with people simpily driving for the pleasure of driving through the countryside. The bad thing is you really have to keep your eye out for the coppers. I usually wait for a big block superbike to buzz by giving him about 1\2 mile lead then chase him down (so he can get the ticket). The Dragon is doing very well and still pulling like a champ! I hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to seeing you at Carlisle!

Turbo Joe - I love rt 211! :eek It is an AWESOME Road and like you say, let the cycles run and then catch 'em in the corners

I hope you will be making Fall Skyline - FXGS was talking about heading down for that event in October, very late October :cool

...well, it rained most of the afternoon however, I was still able to wash the brakedust off

Mark, I wax it once a year usually, using Mothers cleaner wax - in the red can :cool

In between waxes and for a gloss for shows, etc. , I use Meguiars spray detailer.

Eric, I washed the apple guts out of the grooves of the Gatorbacks last night - hard to believe they were on there/in there since last year when I backed off the trailer into the front yard and drove across the lawn :eek

...in the meantime, I am going to head outside and hose the brakedust off my Dymags from last weekends drive to the local Corvette show - Yep, drove it two weekends in a row :eek

I would have liked to have gone to that show down in Tyson's, but I was leaving on business the same day and had too much to get done before I left.

However, do you have problems with the rotors rusting when you hose the wheels off? Or do you take the car for a spin after you do that? I really hate using a hose on cars that sit a lot because of how much water it introduces to the car. Next time we're at a meet, I'll bring you some Protect-All's Quick and Easy Wash to try. If your wheels aren't too dusty, just a bucket of water, that stuff, and a wash mitt work wonders.

Aurora - I always take the car(s) around the block to "blow the water out of the cracks"

I did not really wash the body, only a few dusty spots and the nose - the rest was already clean enough...

We'll have to catch up soon

After I wash the SNAT, I pull it in the garage and use the blower attachment on my Shop Vac to blow all the water out of the nooks and crannies. I can actually almost dry off the entire car within a few minutes by using this method.

It's also great for using under the hood to blow out any dust and with the "needlenose" attachment, I can get into the shroud arounfd the radiator to blow out any debris that might have been drawn up into that area.
