Baby update 3-4-05

Ray

it's easy to do something when the advice given from more than one person is the same and it makes perfect sense. Taking your time is always the best way in these matters - rushing just messes things up. Besides, I didn't need a lot of convincing - the idea of delaying our final date was growing larger and larger in the back of my head but than hearing it from Rick, kohn, and you helped me decide it was definately the right thing to do. I guess it really shouldn't have been such a big decision to make since the quality of the job is the most important thing. Hey, it's why I choose this shop.

Great news on the photos you recieved. How did you track down previous owners? i'd love to know previous history on Baby and get in contact with any prior owners but other than placing an ad in Driveline I wouldn't know where to start.

Barry, Barry, Barry! :duh

It's way too early to take your Vette out even if the weather suddenly turns sunny and 70 every day for a week. Have you noticed how white the shoulders of the roads look? That's salt. You don't want that salt dust getting blown all over your frame and suspension, much less your paint. Also, there is sand everywhere! Your car will get sand blasted going down the road. Take Baby home, put her in the garage, clean, polish, hug if you must, but leave her in the garage until we get a couple of good rains to wash the roads down. Mean time your paint will continue to cure and when I see you at the shows this summer she'll be looking good. My '66 is sitting in the garage rarin' to go but she won't be coming out for a while either. You'll feel better once you get her home. But keep her in the garage for a while, please? You'll have plenty of play time this summer. :lou

hey Terry

oh, believe me, as long as there is salt and sand on the road Baby isn't going anywhere! the only trip she will be making is from Joe's Garage back to my garage and I'm hoping that by the time she is ready to make that trip the roads will have cleared off of all that crap. It will be a couple more weeks anyway now.

Barry,
My 1967 went into the paintshop yesterday. Pictures to follow in coming weeks.

The new GM Restoration bumpers arrived from Paragon today. A plan is coming together!

Good advice. I have heard of fitment problems before. That along with a new exhaust bezel complicates the situation further.

*Edit*-Just curious. In what way do they not fit? I have the shims and the bolt/washer kit. Do the brackets have to be bent???

Just make sure they fit and all the holes line up BEFORE the car has fresh paint on it - you don't want any scratches later. :)
