Back-up lamp swith

I own a 1973 manual transmission corvette. My back-up lights are not working so I am thinking that it is due to the back-up lamp switch. Where is this switch located? Thanks in advance for your help.

The switch is mounted on the transmission, right near the shifter linkage. Not rare for one of the wires to fatigue and break off at the switch.

....Or one of the tiny hairpin clips falls off, allowing the link rod from the switch to the trans reverse lever to hang free. Here's a pic from the front of the switch and its shield, mounted at the lower rear area of the side cover - also shows the link rod and one of the hairpin clips.

...or wires to switch hang down on exhaust or headers and cause short. Dont ask.
