Well.
Damn bad luck. I went to see one of my friends today. I've park right on the side of his street. The street is very large over there and a quiet Neiborhood. So not alot of traffic.
I would've never expected what the futur had reserved me. Beleive it or not. NOT A CAR, but an adult cyclist that was passing by had just baught some new foot peg for his bicycle and was strugling with them and not looking where he was going he was too busy looking down at his foot pegs and then BANG!!! drove right onto my car leaving the handle bar right trough the passenger fender. YES it went right trought it.
Anyways the guy was very honest. I was inside my friend house when it happened and he was smart enouph to come knocking on the door and tell me what happend. Lucky he was honest cause some guy's would've ran away without saying nothing. He said he will pay for the damage. I will drive the car tomorrow at the body shop to get it fixed.
So from now on I will make sure to park my car at the safest place I can find but you never know. Who would've thought. Getting hit by a cyclist when there is plenty of space on the street. I was the only car on the street with about 20 feet to spare for any car that would've want to drive by but no he had to choose the path where my car was parked. It was just not my day.
So watch out where you park. The police officer told me that I had the right to park there and the cyclist was responsible for the accident. It's the first and last time that I will park on the side of the street that's one thing for sure. Legal or Not !!!
Here are some pictures of the hole that his bike left in my passenger fender. he also got a peice of my front bumber. The body shop said they will be able to match the paint but will have to paint the entire front of the car.

that sucks! But at least the guy was honest and knocked on the door and took responsibilty for it, that's probably more than most other people would do.

On the bright side, this will probably take your mind off your ciggy lighter issue........... :D

Hahahaah. that's a good one. Damn cigarette lighter. As soon as I got enouph money I'm gonna buy a real nice sound system so I won't have to rely on an external player that plugs into the lighter adapter. lol

figured you needed a good laugh after today :)

yeah. I needed that. I can't wait to see the car after it's painted. The body shop will paint the entire front of the car. I didn't want to take any chances or colors not blending with the fender and hood. So they will paint the fenders, hood, light covers and front bumper.

That way there will be no problem with paint not matching.
Hopefully it will turn good.

Holy crap! What did the guy weigh? That's a lot of damage for a bike. . .

I'm glad he was honest, though. You're right, a lot of folks would have skulked away. :(

sorry about the vette at least he stopped and told you!!!!!

bill...........:w

The guy probably weight about 160 Pounds I guess. He was 23 years old. I would've not expected that from a 23 year old. he was not paying attention to the road just his new clips he put on his bicycle pedals.

The thing is, his pedale caught into my bumper and then in my tire and it drove the bike like a slingshot onto de car and the handle bar went right through the fiberglass.

Well Today the Car is in the body shop. The kid already paid the body shop guy. My car will be ready this Friday. I'll be able to put my car in the car show on April 28th. I can't wait to see if the paint will match perfectly or not.

T, that blows. At least it's getting fixed.

Show us the after Pics and let us know how it turned out.

Accidents happen, the best you can hope for is for those who have responsibility handel it.. as we know it seems more and more people don't take the blame, they rather blame it on something else. A guy talking on a cell phone driving on a snowy curve, lost control and hit my bosses truck which was parked in a parking spot close to the road. The guy said I don't know the car just lost control and I couldn't recover it. Didn't say I'm sorry or anything like that..

I am really surprised the guy looked you up to tell you he hit your car. I was hit from behind at a redlight one day and the kid that hit me never even spoke to me at all.

Glad you are going to be able to get it fixed that quick too. My luck would have been weeks or longer.

Ouch!

I'm glad no one was hurt and that your Vette is getting fixed super fast!

I'm also pleased to hear that the fella knocked on the door and let you know what he'd done. Not many that would go to those lengths to take responsibility. As upset as I would be over the damage to my car, I could not be upset with someone of such honest character and courage.

:--( what a bummer but what nice young guy to stop - not much of that these days. I had a similar thing last year in my own driveway, the neighbor downstairs backed into the car, the car i had less than a month, the car that had no damage :-(
They were very nice and paid cash for the repair and it wasnt cheap esp with the two tone.

It's still weird. All I was thinking when I've park the Vette is where should I park so I don't get hit by another car. But never thaught one bit about bicycles or people walking.

who would've thought? Well now I'm just gonna be paranoid everytime I park the Vette.

Glad that turned out well.. I was really surprised that a bike handle could do so much damage.

Wow, Glad everything worked out. Its good to see there are still honest, upright people in the world. I sure would have been real nervous to have to tell someone I just damaged their classic car.
