"Bad Year"

actually the 84's are going for roughly 6 to 8 k and for another 2 thousand you can build it up to a solid 375hp and still pull a 1g skid pad if it is a z51, and still be reliable. The best part is that if it is maintained it probably won't go down much in value. So for 10 grand you can out run and out corner a new coupe which is losing about 5 to 8 thousand or more a year in value. Just depends what makes sense to you.

I'm soooo disappointed

Why does everyone like to dis the 84.

I've had my 84 for about a year now I spent 7K and have had to do almost no repairs on it :). When I was looking into purchasing one a friend of mine gave me a piece of advice.

"Bill they never made a bad vette."

Now that being said its just like buying any car. The more money you spend generally the better the car. But what also applies is the more money spent the higher on the depreciation curve you are so. Get what you think is cool and when those silly guys in thier annoying little lawnmower cars pull up to you remember you have a VETTE not a KIA.

No "Bad" Year

Admittedly I am still in the learning curve, but from all I have read and seen there is no bad year but some years may be a bit better than others. My son found a Corvette anthology CD somewhere that has all sorts of pictures of all the Corvette years and styles and they each have their own personality. I also just finished a book by Dave McClellan that also provides a lot of "inside" information, and you are right, a Corvette is still a Corvette. I think it may be the feeling of driving a legend as well as driving a pretty neat car.
