Hi Pedro
believe me, I am NO saint!
I used to get a bit upset on how long it was taking but not anymore. with the work i've seen him put into my car and knowing I plan on holding onto the car for a long time i just put it into perpective and realized the long wait will be well worth it in the end. Besides, there is no rushing this guy and what's the point of trying? I'd rather he take his time and do as good of a job finishing her as he has done throughout the whole project up to this point.

The arm is getting better. getting the cast off helped a lot. still sore and stiff but getting a bit better everyday. thanks for asking.
:)

I understand.

I'm glad you have this attitude.
I will tell you one thing though, it will be a
cooooooooooooooooooooooooooolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllld day in Hades before I ever take my car to your guy!

I'm glad to hear that your arm is coming along.
You know, your situation just reinforces what all of us here know...this is a great place.
It's a sounding board, a resource for knowledge and a meeting place.
Most of all it's a bunch of guys that love these old cars and are here to help in what ever way they can.

Hopefully the CAC makes your waiting and down time just a little bit easier to bear.

Here's to your continued rehab and Baby's progress!:beer

Pedro

Regarding the CAC, well said Pedro!:upthumbs Besides the knowledge shared we can all have fun with each other in good spirits and we can laugh together. Lots of smiles and good times with caring friends, that's what makes the CAC support family so special!

Have a great day!

the ironic part of your statement is that now that i've seen his work first hand, There isn't another shop I'd take a vette to for bodywork and paint. I've said it a million times already but, he may be slow but his work is second to none. I'll wait for first class result anytime rather than someone who can get it done fast but not as well.

it's like the old saying..... you can have it good, have it fast, or have it cheap.
most situations you can pick two of the three choices but i think for Corvettes you are only allowed to pick one of the three! ;LOL

Pedro and Doug
i agree. you know, as much as I LOVE my car and as much as i LOVE driving and enjoying my car, I think the best thing about owning it has been the people that my wife and I have met since we got into this hobby last year.
Between this forum, and joining our local corvette club, and going to cruises and shows we have meet a lot of very wonderful people. It's the people in this hobby that make it as great as it is. the generosity and knowedge of people on here and that we have met thru this hobby constantly amazes me. I think it's the people that make it all worth while and that REALLY surprises me because in general I don't like other people! ;LOL until I got into this hobby one of my favorite sayings was "the more people i meet the more I love my dog". The people i've met since getting involved in Corvettes has mostly changed my attitude in that - not an easy thing to do with someone who is 40yo and pretty set in my ways.

Even being without my car for all this time was made bearable by still participating in our club events and being on here. In fact, in Feb when Linda and I went on a cruise, we went with a group of 52 people - some from our corvette club and some from 2 or 3 three other close-by clubs that we associate with.

oh, a quick side note about my painter that came up in conversation with him yesterday that I found a little interesting.

Joe (the painter) was to be the right hand man of a gut by the name of Bob Gold. Bob died some years back and before I got involved with Vettes so I never knew him or met him even though it turns out he lived about 15 minutes from where I am. Bob was a big collector and dealer in Vettes and I was told by others that he is the one that actually first started the auctions at Bloomington and later at Carlisle. Joe is the one that use to travel everywhere with Bob all over the country to evaluate the cars for him and than if they needed any repairs he was the one to do it.
Well, one year they were at Bloomington and they had brought a few cars up to sell and. One of Bob's friends was also there (he told be the name but I forgot it) and the man owned one of the five original Grand Sports and had the car there with him. At one point the car had to get moved from one side of the field to the other so he turns to Joe, tosses him the keys, and asked if he wouldn't mind moving the car. So Joe ends up driving this ORIGINAL Grand Sport. He said that was one scary fast and powerful car.
Now, I don't know how many years back this was or which # Grand Sport it was but I believe i remember him saying that when that owner bought it it cost him $180,000 at the time. Sounds like a bargin now! the guy raced it for a few years than sold it.

Well, i thought this was interesting anyway even if it is OT for this thread. Must be nice to have been able to drive a real original Grand Sport even if it was only for a short distance

Barry,

Soooooooo...going by this rule of thumb, this means that your paint job is mucho buckaroos because it's taking so long...right?

By the way, "the more people i meet the more I love my dog" is an expression that I have also believed in for many years.
My wife says it was also her father's credo.
I do like most people though!
Below is a pic of Simon, our French Bulldog. This was taken back in December.
He was just a hair over six months.
Incredible, cool dog!

You hit the nail on the head!

Thanks..

Pedro

Pedro
no, if I wanted it fast it would have been much more money i'm sure. That's if getting it fast was an option which I don't think he gives.......... ;LOL

here is a pic of our Border Collie (Chewie)

Yo Barry!

Take a different car the next time you drive to the shop to check on progress. I think your painter sees you coming and picks up a spray bottle and a piece of sand paper real quick! I remember the day at Hagley Museum, September 18, 2004. You were hoping to have your car back for our club's "Vettes for Vets" show on October 3rd! Yowsah! I'm with Pedro. That dude will never paint my car, no time, no price!

hey Terry
I knew last years club thing was a no-go when I dropped it off, that was just just beyond wishful hopeing back than!

How are your cars coming along?

Barry,
Paul has left, but I'm pretty sure I just saw Elvis! ;LOL

My cars are doing fine. The '60 has been purring like a kitten since the weather broke. The '66 is running great too though it hasn't been driven as much because I got lazy and delayed getting everything back together. That's what happens when you have two Vettes and the shows start clogging your schedule. :D Free time? Let's ride! We'll get to the wrenches later! But now that the '66 is back on the road I'm back to preaching,
THERE'S NOTHING LIKE A BIG BLOCK! :beer

An unexpected consequence of this thread............my wife now wants a French Bulldog. I made the mistake of showing Pedro's dog's picture to my wife. Now she wants one. She even thinks the dog looks like a Simon. Go figure. I explained to her that I see a lot of Vette pictures on the forum too but I can't just have every one I see. She reminded me that I have 2 vettes. I reminded her that she has 3 dogs. Looks like I'm a Vette short! :W:W :W

Terry
if your cars are back up and running, when mine eventually come home again I want to take you up on your offer from a couple months ago and get my car over to your place up on the lift so I can clean the underneath up again...........if the offer still stands.

Barry,

Sometime when it's not raining you're more than welcome to come over and use my lift.

Pedro,

I'm not showing any more pictures! Three is enough! :W :W :W

Terry, if it was raining my car wouldn't be leaving my garage anyway!

of course you realize now that once Baby is back home we will most likely start in on the biblical weather (40 days and 40 nights of rain) so I'll never be able to drive her even after Joe gets done with her.
;LOL
