Hi, my '02 Z06 maybe gets driven once or twice every couple of weeks. I notice that the battery drains down to 60-70% of full capacity causing it to slowly turn over. It does start, but if it sits for any time the charge will trickle away. Also, I have noticed that the clock will loose time as well. Could this be a symptom of the battery or do you think that it could be a separate issue? Thanks.

If your not using a battery tender your killing your battery and thats why you have low battery power. Recharge your battery to 100% and use a tender. An alternator will not fully charge the battery to 100% only about 80-85%. Three completely dead battery cycles and its done.

I have charged the battery to 100% several times but have not used a tender. Do you think the clock is a separate issue?

I would want to be sure the battery is good and stays at 100% before even thinking about the radio.

Is it the original battery?
Do you have anything aftermarket installed, like a radar detector, CD changer or anything?

I think the battery is original. I've only owned the car for 6 months or so. The car only has 4000 miles on it, but the battery is 4-5 yrs old if it is original. No after market stuff. The car is all stock.

If you have an 02 with an original battery, time for a new battery. You are lucky you have not been stranded yet. Usually, 3 years is max for a stock Z battery.

After you get a new one, Battery Tender is a must.

I agree with "time for a new battery".
When my stock battery failed, it just went- no dribbling away. That was 18 months after I got the car (brand new).
Since then, no problems with the cheapo battery that I had put in. I drive the car every 2-3 weeks at best, and haven't had any problems at all with it sitting there that long.
