I have a problem guys,
I am having problems keeping my 84 battery charged. I took it to 2 shops to test the alternator and the battery. They said the battery was bad so I go buy and battery and the alternator was good. It is charging a 14 volts. What could cause this problem of draining the battery. There is nothing being left on that I can tell.

You need to connect a multimeter between the neg terminal and the negative post of the battery...look at the reading with the key off. Then start pulling fuses and see where the drain is coming from by the reading dropping when you pull a fuse...NOTE..you will need someone to hold the door button in while you do this test or the interior lights will be on...Pay special attention to the dash fuse and the alarm fuse...known to have a large drain when not operation properly...also with the lights off and dark...peak and see if the middle glove box light is off...that is what was causing mine to die.

I will try that this weekend.

Tou could also pull the connectors for the underhood lights.
I (accidently) found the mercury switch was keeping them on, I never fixed it, just left them disconnected. No more dead battery !
