Battery pooped out.

Hi Folks -

Well, the "lightweight" battery in my Z finally crapped out - 37.6k miles, and almost 3.5 years of service.

I guess that is pretty good for this "glass mat" type of battery.

The replacement Optima red-top was $128 with tax from my local megalo-auto.

It weighs 40 lbs - seemed like it is twice as heavy as the stocker - but this battery should last twice as long.

These C5's sure get spooky when the electrics get low voltage, huh?

Mine died a couple of months ago. We both have 2002 Z06's. I ended up with the Exide version of that same battery technology.

My 02 Z06 battery crapped out on me a LONG time ago! I think it was late in 2003.

Yes, they get spooky as hell when they're getting low voltage. As in, pull up to a stop light (in the dark) and everything just momentarily shuts off. Engine, lights, everything. :eek
